The Rockefellers have returned just in time for oral arguments in Boulder’s climate lawsuit – and they’ve popped up with another “news” website. But behind the new masthead are familiar names, the same Center for Climate Integrity backing, and the same failing climate litigation campaign.

Back in May, the Rockefeller-backed CCI closed the book on ExxonKnews, its longtime anti-oil industry reporting website, after nearly a decade of campaigning around the #ExxonKnews narrative and sustaining multiple defeats in the courtroom.

Four months later, CCI has launched “Point Source News,” which appears to be a rebrand of the old website, complete with the same lead reporter on the same mission: act as a mouthpiece for the thinly-veiled national campaign to bankrupt American energy companies.

While the site acknowledges “Point Source is a reporting project of the Center for Climate Integrity,” it also hilariously claims “all editorial decisions are made by the Point Source team, and are not necessarily reflective of the work or positions of the Center for Climate Integrity.”

Sure, Jan.

This is just a blatant attempt to repackage anti-American energy activism as journalism, while inserting its advocacy into mainstream media coverage through the Covering Climate Now collective.

ICYMI: Losses Left, Right, and Center for Climate Litigation

Now that summer is over and Point Source has come online, here are the biggest stories the Rockefeller crew may have missed over the past few months:

• The NAS removed the judicial reference manual’s climate science chapter pending an investigation into conflicts of interest. The NAS president later admitted that the “controversial” climate science chapter was written by authors tied to the plaintiffs.
• A federal court blocked New York’s climate superfund effort, saying that it was “simply beyond the limits of state law.”
• The NAS released a climate attribution report, acknowledging that an attorney associated with the plaintiffs helped create it. Next, State attorneys general called for an investigation into the report.
• The House Judiciary Committee escalated its climate lawfare probe, subpoenaing plaintiffs’ attorney Roger Worthington after he funded climate research that he cited in Multnomah’s case.
• California voters thoroughly rejected Tom Steyer and the Rockefellers’ ‘Keep it in the Ground’ agenda.
• Boulder’s DA revealed that Colorado AG Phil Weiser may have supported Boulder’s climate lawsuit behind the scenes, but perhaps you knew that already…
• Sher Edling joined yet another case, this time in Connecticut, while their very own Michael Burger faces mounting scrutiny over alleged conflicts of interest.
• New Jersey’s climate superfund push stalled after Democrats and labor groups in the state raised concerns. Meanwhile, other states saw sweeping defeats of their own bills.
• Three climate lawsuits in Maryland ended unceremoniously after the deadline to appeal quietly passed.
• Michigan’s legislature passed a bipartisan budget restricting the state’s attorney general from suing oil and gas companies.
• Boulder received remarkably little in-state support for its climate lawsuit at perhaps the most pivotal moment in the case’s history.

Bottom Line: The same Rockefeller-backed groups and individuals are back under a new name as they continue to raise energy prices and bankrupt American companies while customers across the country face an affordability crisis.
